Mean Girls

My middle school years were rough. In the 6th grade my "so called friends" gave me a note with "Top Ten Reasons We Hate You" scribbled on the top. Then it had a list of 10 things they hated about me. I'm not kidding.

Mean girls for sure...

Why am bringing up these old memories? I heard about the 12 year old girl who took her own life because of relentless bullying from two other girls. Absolutely heart breaking. I started thinking about what I would say to her if I had the chance. What would I tell her if I had the chance to change her mind? I can't say for sure what words I would use but it would be something along these lines...

-You are beautiful and wonderfully made.

-There is no one else like you.

-You will be missed by so many people.

-Think of all the amazing things you have to look forward to.

-Those bullies have no power over you.

-The world will not be the same without you in it.

-You are loved by so many people.

-God loves you unconditionally and that is all you need.

As a mother I can't bear the thought of losing a child. And I can't even imagine the pain that comes with having a child end their own life. All I know is that I will do everything in my power to make sure my children know how much they are loved. I don't know why girls in particular are so vicious but it has to stop. Girls need to know that they aren't in a competition with each other (outside of sports that is). Girls need to build each other up, not bring each other down.

If you get a chance, say a prayer for the family of this little girl.

Make sure your child knows how much they are loved every single day.
