In the beginning of 2013 I had my routine. Every time I got onto the computer I would check my email, then Facebook and finally visit all my favorite blogs. I was so inspired by these amazing women putting their heart out
there for all to read. Some blogs were lifestyle, some were fashion, some were all about motherhood and some were about faith. I enjoyed them all. The seeds were planted and I began to think about starting my own blog. It wasn't a quick decision by any means. I knew that if I started a blog, I wanted to be all in and fully invested. I had tried blogging a few times in the past but I honestly never got past the first few posts. I prayed and discerned if blogging was something I really wanted to do.
So I did my research and the more I thought about it, the more I felt that it was something I wanted to do. I spent several months taking notes on various sites and their designs. I filled up an entire notebook with ideas and brainstorming. A blog needs a direction and a niche. So I spent lots of time trying to figure out my blog's place in the giant internets. I needed to find my own blogger voice. Not someone else's, but my very own. Now don't get me wrong, I'm still figuring it out! And there are still new things that I want to try. I love experimenting with my posts and seeing which ones do well and which ones don't haha.
This blog has been so good for me. As a stay at home mom it allows me to have a creative outlet. It let's me share things from the heart and that's what matters. As an English Lit. major, this blog also allows me to stay on top of my writing. Now I realize that not all my posts are super deep and thought provoking but nonetheless, I'm still writing and that feels so good. Sometimes I get caught up comparing myself to other (amazing) blogs or posting things just to try and gain readership. That's not why I started this blog. I started it because I wanted to share the things that inspire me. My inspiration ranges from things like a beautiful bridal shower all the way to my family and faith. I also try to connect with other moms. Not just stay at home moms but all kinds of moms. Motherhood is so beautiful but so very hard at the same time. It's my hope that my little corner of the internet can be helpful to moms when they're either having a rough day or looking for a mom friendly outfit.
Even though my main goal is to simply post things from the heart...I still have big dreams for this little blog. Often times a blog becomes a stepping stone to bigger things and maybe that's what Barista Mommy will be. This blog is a great platform to establish my style and aesthetic. I'm always trying to make Barista Mommy better. I continue to research ways to better my posts, improve my photography skills and learn from my mistakes along the way.
It's been one wonderful year of blogging and I'm looking forward to more! If you haven't entered my blogging birthday giveaway yet (pictured below) there is still time! Click here and then scroll to the bottom to enter! A big thank you to ALL my readers <3 You guys are the best!
