Five Favorites: Anniversary Edition

During the summer of 2008 I watched World Youth Day on EWTN. My heart was captured by the vibrant spirit of all the young Catholics gathered in Sydney and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. The next WYD was going to be in 2011 in Madrid Spain. I made a commitment to myself that I was going to be there.

But I didn't want to be there alone.

After deciding I was going to find a way to make it to Madrid for WYD, I went to write in my journal. Now, this was no ordinary journal. This journal was filled with letters to my future spouse. The idea was that someday I would be able to hand over this notebook to my husband and show him all the times I thought about him and prayed for him. In the journal I told my future spouse that I was planning on WYD 2011 and I hoped that he would be there too. I said that it would be so much fun to make WYD our honeymoon. However, we would have to meet pretty soon in order for all the timing to work out. I finished my journal entry and tucked my notebook away somewhere safe.

Two weeks later I met Andrew.

In 2011 we went to WYD as newlyweds.

Occasionally I'll flip back to those pages in the journal and just read them in awe. It is so amazing to see how God works in our lives. He knew from the beginning that my heart would find Andrew.

So here we are three years later with two beautiful boys. There have been ups and downs and I'm sure there will be more to come but I am so glad that Andrew will be by my side through it all.

With all that said, here are my Five Favorite wedding photos. Trying to pick favorites is nearly impossible. But these just seemed to stand out to me today as I walked down memory lane.

We did our "first look" in adoration. Time stopped for those 15 minutes as we prepared our hearts for the sacrament.

Some of the best advice I was given was to say my vows slowly, clearly and confidently. I have never spoken sweeter words than my wedding vows.

During the Ave Maria we placed flowers at the feet of Mary. Andrew also spent some time at the feet of St. Joseph.

My groom. So handsome.

I don't think I actually ate any of our wedding cake. I was too busy dancing haha.

I love you more than you will ever know Andrew <3 Happy Anniversary!
