I decided to start a fun little series on the blog featuring different lipsticks, lip stains, lip glosses etc. I think there are a lot of women out there who would like to give lip color a try but become intimidated by all the choices, or the worry about "pulling it off". I stayed away from any lip color for years because I was just terrified of looking ridiculous. Then about two years ago I fell in love with a color and suddenly I was hooked. I no longer cared what anyone thought. I was going to wear whatever I wanted. Even when I know I'm going to be home all day I add some color. There is just something about a little bit of makeup that makes a huge difference in my mood and productivity. Of course everyone is different but at least for me it helps.
This new lipstick obsession has resulted in quite a collection. So I thought it would be a fun idea to start reviewing some of them. I know I have found some of my favorite colors/brands because I saw them worn/reviewed online. And seeing the tube isn't enough. I want to show what the color looks like in real life! Hopefully this little series can help you find the color you're looking for (or tell you which ones to avoid!).
First up! An awesome drug store find... Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm-Standout (250)
This lipstick is a great one to start with because it comes in a pencil like form. So if you're like me and constantly worried about staying in the lines, this is super helpful. The color stays on really well. If I'm wearing it all day then I "touch it up" every couple hours. However, if you put it on and totally hate it, it comes off pretty easy with a tissue. I also really like the matte lipsticks because they aren't shiny. Some matte lipsticks can get a little clumpy after a few applications but not this one.
This is it! It is definitely one of my favorites. Plus it's always great to find a drug store product that I love. Yay saving money! Ok well that's it for this week. Let me know if there are any particular colors/brands that you would like to see reviewed! And if you're on the fence about trying lip color I say just go for it! Worst case scenario? You wipe it off. At least you tried something new right? Right!
