A few weeks ago I attended my first ever photo walk. I'll admit, I looked up a "photo walk" to see exactly what it was. And when I say "looked it up", I mean googled it on my phone because I'm pretty sure I haven't actually looked anything up since 2006. Anyway. I digress. So it turns out a photo walk is usually something done in a photography classes or photo clubs. It's a (loose) path with pretty awesome things along the way for you to take pictures of. This photo walk was put on by my friend Kristen who is behind the Why I Love Where I Live movement. In partner with Maynards Market&Kitchen, she set up a walk in downtown Tucson with a little map marked with small businesses to stop by and visit.
I wasn't really sure what to expect going into this and like most social events, I wanted to turn around about halfway there and go home, get in my pajamas, and binge on Netflix. But alas, I forced myself to keep going. Of course, it turned out to be a really fun evening. We even ended up running into several of our friends who showed up too! Downtown Tucson has really come a long way. A few years ago you couldn't get me down there unless...unless....I actually have no idea. I pretty much avoided it like the plague. However, it is a totally different story now. There are so many cool places popping up. Shops, restaurants, cafe's etc. It's so wonderful to see a community come together over the city that we love. At times living in Tucson can be challenging or boring but I'm finding that it's not actually Tucson to blame...it's me. Now the construction and pot holes? No that's not me. That's all Tucson.
All in all. It was a lovely evening. I am so excited to discover more of downtown Tucson. Here are some of my favorite images from the photo walk. Oh and you can follow Why I Love Where I Love on Instagram!
"Andrew, please get a picture of me with this green door. Thanks. Now get one with my phone."
He's so handsome.
That lady throwing shade in the back. Stop.
Pre haircut days. Yikes.
No idea really... But it felt hipster to take a picture of it.
My kinda place ya know what I'm sayin'?!
Such a cool plant wall. I would surely kill it if left in charge. That's not a threat. Just a testament to my green thumb. Or lack there of.
Yeah so my new hair studio *girl flipping her hair emoji*
Then me creeping on some florists.
Keep up with Why I Love Where I Live for more fun events! Have you ever done a photo walk before? What was it like?
